CaseScribe

Terms of service

Last updated 13 September 2026

These terms govern your use of CaseScribe at casescribe.org. By using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

1. Who may use CaseScribe

CaseScribe is offered to qualified medical and healthcare professionals and to students under supervision, acting in a professional capacity. You must be at least 18 years old. You are responsible for ensuring that your use complies with the rules of your employer, institution and regulator.

2. What CaseScribe is, and what it is not

CaseScribe is a writing assistance tool. It structures text you supply into a case report and retrieves published literature to support it.

Output is generated by an artificial intelligence model and may contain errors, omissions or misstatements. You must read, verify and correct every draft before relying on it or submitting it anywhere. Verify every citation against the original source.

3. Anonymisation is mandatory

You may submit de-identified text only. You must not enter, upload or paste any information that identifies or could reasonably identify a patient, including but not limited to names, medical record numbers, national or insurance identifiers, dates of birth, exact dates of admission, procedure or death, contact details, facility or city names, and images or files containing identifiers or embedded metadata.

You warrant that any text you submit has been de-identified before submission. You are the data controller for your patients' information; CaseScribe is not, and does not intend to be, a recipient of identifiable health data. Submitting identifiable data is a breach of these terms, may breach the law applicable to you, and may result in immediate termination of your account.

4. Consent and publication

Obtaining patient consent for publication is your responsibility as the author, in the form required by your institution and by your target journal. CaseScribe does not obtain, record or verify consent.

5. Disclosing AI assistance

Journals increasingly require authors to disclose the use of AI tools and prohibit listing an AI as an author. Exports include suggested disclosure wording for this purpose. It is your responsibility to check and follow the policy of the journal you submit to. You remain the author of, and accountable for, anything you submit.

6. Credits and payment

Abstract generation is free. Full manuscript generation consumes one credit. Credits are purchased in advance, do not expire, and are not transferable. Prices are shown in US dollars and payment is handled by our payment provider; we do not store your card details.

Because each manuscript incurs immediate processing cost, a credit that has been consumed is not refundable. Unused credits may be refunded at our discretion within 14 days of purchase. If the service fails to produce a manuscript because of a fault on our side, the credit is returned to your balance.

7. Your content and ownership

You keep all rights in the text you submit. You keep all rights in the output generated for you and may publish it, subject to these terms and to the policies of your journal. You grant us a limited licence to process your text solely to operate the service.

8. Acceptable use

9. Availability

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change, suspend or discontinue features. Where a paid feature is withdrawn, unused credits will be refunded.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of publication opportunity, reputational harm, or any consequence of clinical decisions. Our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, in particular for submitting identifiable patient data.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email or by notice on this page, and the date at the top will change. Continued use after a change means acceptance.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the United Arab Emirates have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
